Pups on the go!

The next big plan is to get a dog trailer for my commuter bike so I can bring Fremont to work with me! I’ll be moving in two weeks to a new townhouse in west Boulder (yay!) and will have a fairly sturdy commute to work– probably about 10 miles each way, roughly 45 minutes of biking. I figure I can make Fremont comfortable now on the nice days and come spring, it’ll be the normal way to get to work! It’s a win-win situation — more exercise for me and more interesting for him. Now, to find the best route to the office…

I think this is going to be the busiest holiday season I’ve had yet. For those who don’t know already, I will be driving back east this year so if you’re in the CT/east coast crew, drop me a line. Fremont will be with me! I don’t have the details 100% ironed out, but I’ll be doing my best to see everyone before I head back to Colorado on the 30th or 31st.

Also one last bike note: if anyone is up for a Fruita/Grand Junction/Moab trip over the weekend of December 11-13th, let me know! I’d like to get out there for a few more days of riding if the weather is good. I’d love to ride “The Ribbon” again or just play at the Book Cliffs side of Fruita.

Talus was my buddy, the dog I had always dreamed of and more — and he was whisked out of my life in 6 short weeks. I’ve refrained from indulging in the pain of his loss, especially on a public forum like a blog.

I’ve started building a Talus tribute page on my website because I don’t want to forget him. While time has inevitably lessened the pain of his loss, it also begins to blur the good memories too. He brought me so much joy and happiness in his short time on earth, I will always miss him. The video above is one of our games of “two-ball” just before he got too sick to play.

I could go on and on about Talus but the news here is there’s a new friend on the horizon, a sweet little puppy from the border collie rescue. I know I cannot replace Talus nor will I ever forget him, but there are always dogs in need of good homes and this little guy will have a “forever home” with Xanadu and me. It’s been 5 months since I had to say good bye to the T-man and while my heart is not completely healed, it’s in the right place to share my life and adventures with a new dog…
