The Good Fight
Saturday, May 02, 2009
It is with a very heavy heart that I have to report that I need to let Talus go today. He has fought with incredible courage and bravery and I did everything I could to help him defeat this awful virus -- and amazingly, he DID -- he survived but the damage to his brain is too severe. His body is still strong, his heart still beats and he never succumbed to the physical torture, but in giving it his all he wasn't able to overcome this horrible circumstance.

Even though he was only in my life a short time, I loved him as deeply as I've ever loved anything in this life. He was my buddy, my dog and of course, he was a good boy. My life is going to feel very, very empty without him on my bed at night and beside me on the trail. I asked him for a sign and the last few times I've been with him, he has cried out... and I need to let him continue on this amazing, unknown journey.

Thank you all for the great wishes, prayers, thoughts and heartfelt kindness. Talus made friends easily, was a king amongst dogs and he was my friend.

I will miss him terribly.
