Travel always disorients me in a positive way; one night I'm watching a clutch of turtles being born under the Caribbean moonlight, the next I'm back in Boulder scrambling for a few extra dollars to repair a busted muffler. For a few days, the tribulations of everyday life aren't that big of deal. It was great to see Xanadu again and the mountains are wonderful as always, but it's the bills and all that junk that makes me want to stay lost in the jungle a little longer.
And for those who haven't seen, my book is about to "go live" as the internerds would say. I still have a few minor details to add in...but it will be on the shelves very soon! Now, I have to resume this "work" thing most of us do for whatever reason. I'll be writing again soon!

I hope they saved some feathers for me! Wish me luck in Trinidad and Tobago! I'll try to post some pics while I'm out there, assuming the Internet is robust enough to handle my whopping 1 MB photos! I have an EPIC travel day tomorrow so hopefully my Gameboy won't let me down! Any good music suggestions for me? Better make 'em now! Once I get down there we appear to be doing a ton of biking and kayaking, so I should come home with at least a 3 week smile engraved on my face. Until next time...

I look around what I do have. A little cat I rescued from a shelter. A book with my name on the cover. You know that theoretical example of "if I died tomorrow.." what would I have on my tombstone? Proud cat owner, great NES player, above average at skee ball.
My point is my life is essentially inconsequential in a practical sense. If I shipped off to Antarctica tomorrow, I wouldn't leave much behind in Boulder except the oil stains in my parking spot when my filter exploded. I'm hoping to ground some things in the next few weeks and defy that vagueness of seemless being.
Kind of emo, I know but after 8 years of just "getting by" I'm ready for phase 2 of Boulder, which is like phase 1 in a more conventional life.
In other words: buy my book, several copies if possible :)

This week has a lot afoot. I had a great job interview with Blue Mountain cards on Friday (Hi there if you've gone and Googled me! I'm honored!) which looks promising. Best of all I think I didn't flinch while wearing long pants and sleeves with the aforementioned road rash.
Other than that...a few newsy things. My old room mate Cyrus is in town, it's good to see him again. This past weekend, I got to ride with Paul Retrum at White Ranch (where my butt was kicked and my scabs cracked). I'm gearing up for my trip Sunday to Trinidad and Tobago, which is going to be outrageously fun. The rides are long, the islands are hot and the company will be good.
That's all for now...mahalo!

Oh and not that anyone will actually care, but my hotel site is up up at www.grandvelas.com--if you guys are curious what I write about for a living. :)
Finally, happy birthday to Paul Lenhart who turns 30 ummm...yesterday? I never know the exact date (the 3rd?) since I always celebrate Paul's birthday in September whether he likes it or not. I also refuse to believe his first name is Edwin.
