Earlier this year, a sweet little tri-colored border collie broke my heart.
Talus was my buddy, the dog I had always dreamed of and more — and he was whisked out of my life in 6 short weeks. I’ve refrained from indulging in the pain of his loss, especially on a public forum like a blog.
I’ve started building a Talus tribute page on my website because I don’t want to forget him. While time has inevitably lessened the pain of his loss, it also begins to blur the good memories too. He brought me so much joy and happiness in his short time on earth, I will always miss him. The video above is one of our games of “two-ball” just before he got too sick to play.
I could go on and on about Talus but the news here is there’s a new friend on the horizon, a sweet little puppy from the border collie rescue. I know I cannot replace Talus nor will I ever forget him, but there are always dogs in need of good homes and this little guy will have a “forever home” with Xanadu and me. It’s been 5 months since I had to say good bye to the T-man and while my heart is not completely healed, it’s in the right place to share my life and adventures with a new dog…

The pups... guess which one I've got my eye on?!

Oh man, the video of Talus was bittersweet. What a sweet soul he was – I miss him! I’m guessing you have an eye on the little guy in front of the ball on the far right. Can’t wait to meet your “forever dog.”
Marie: I’m so glad you got to meet Talus! It’s funny, I kind of think of the people who actually got to know him as the “enlightened circle” of friends
He would have been good buddies with Ella.
Yeah, you got the right pick — there’s two little males I’m considering, I liked this guy!
both of those little puppies are so cute! wow…..it is so hard to say good bye to a pet. i am still so sad about mamba, but we will rescue a dog or cat in the summer at some point. i really miss having a warm little body in the house!
The love of a dog will always affect us, even after they leave us. There is nothing like it.
As for which puppy you have your “eye” on…. hummm. I can gather a guess. But they are all adorable. Best wishes when you bring your new little one home!
Great video of Talus – what an athlete!
